Indianhead Sheep and Goat Breeders Association Scholarship Program

$500 Scholarship Deadline - Jan. 17, 2020

The Indianhead Sheep and Goat Breeders Association is offering one scholarship in the amount of $500 to be presented at the 2020 Small Ruminant Clinic. ISGBA reserves the right to award additional smaller scholarships in the event of several deserving candidates. 

Eligibility requirements:
  • Family must be a current member of the Indianhead Sheep and Goat Breeders Association.
  • Must be graduating from high school in 2020 or previous high school graduate age 21 or under as of December 31, 2019.
  • Must be enrolled or accepted in a technical college, vocational college, community college or university. Payment will be issued following proof of enrollment.

Selection criteria:
  • Career goals
  • High School activities
  • Community service and leadership activities
  • Participation in agricultural activities (4-H, FFA, breed associations, etc.)
  • Proof of acceptance or attendance at a technical college, vocational college, community college or university.
  • Two letters of recommendation (teachers, activity leaders, organization leaders, etc. that are not family members).

If you are eligible and would like to apply, submit the completed application with information listed below, typed or printed legibly, along with two letters of recommendation to the following address by the Jan. 17, 2020.

Scholarship applications will be judged by the Indianhead Sheep and Goat Breeders Association Board of Directors and the recipient will be notified by phone. The scholarship recipient will be recognized at the Indianhead Sheep and Goat Breeders Association 2020 Small Ruminant Clinic luncheon at the Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College Conference Center in Rice Lake on February 1, 2020. $500 will be awarded following the clinic after proof of acceptance or attendance is provided.

 
The application shall include the following:
  • Name and Birth date
  • Family Membership Name as listed in the ISGBA Directory (join here, if not a member)
  • Address, phone number and email
  • Education
  • High School attended and graduation date.
  • Technical College, Vocational College, Community College or University attended or accepted by and dates.
  • Sheep and Agricultural Experience
  • Number of years involved in sheep or goat production.
  • Number of years as members of ISGBA.
  • List membership in sheep, goat or agricultural organizations including years involved, awards/honors, and offices held
  • (4-H, FFA, breed associations, etc.).
  • Summarize your farming operation or sheep/goat project.
  • School Activities and Community Service
    • List school activities, community service activities and any related honors and awards.
  • Work Experience
    • List present or previous employers and include duties and employment dates.
  • Career and Agricultural Goals
    • College major or planned field of study.
    • State your career goals and future plans relating to sheep/goat production or agricultural
  • Involvement.
    • State your vision for the future of the sheep/goat industry.
